2. Remembering - Immence Ranges of High Mountains
Lyrics
LEWIS
We leave this winter camp
to go where no one of us
has gone before.
Following stories of the Mandan and Hidatsa
hunters who know the secrets
of the Missouri river land
with the Indian woman, her husband and baby
We will find her people
Shoshonis with horses.

CHORUS
She is found
she knows this country.
She is found.
And we see wonders
Buffalo in great numbers,
Prairies,
The Garden of Eden
Falls,
gigantic and terrifying
Following the Missouri to its end.
We climb a summit
To see the future

LEWIS
And it is spread before us
"Immence ranges of high mountains
still to the west of us
with their tops partially covered with snow."

CHORUS
And it is spread before us
"Immence range of high mountains,
still to the west of us,
with their tops partially covered with snow"

Moment of wonder
Moment of dispair

At last we see the Pacific waters
In streams too small for boats
Must we go west
through "immence ranges of high mountains"?
